Fundraising
Sutherland Music offers a small number of fundraising to students to offset costs for trips. All fundraising is optional, however, students are strongly encouraged to take part in the program and thus be responsible for part of their expenses for trips. All monies raised for fundraising are credited to individual student accounts. If students do not continue in the music program, any money left in their fundraising account can be designated to a sibling or another student in the program upon written consent. If notification is not received about accounts, monies go into a fund that is used for financial subsidies for qualified students.
Entertainment Books
They are here! These great coupon books are $46 each and students will receive a $10 profit per book. There are also some great incentive prizes. All students have been sent home with one book but more are available from Ms. Workman. Please remember that books must be returned in the same condition they went out or $46 will be expected. Cash or cheques made payable to Sutherland Secondary, please. Don't forget to go online if you'd like to order a book for another city.
QSP Magazine Subscriptions will be starting in October.

Homestay
The Sutherland Music Department offers various opportunities for fundraising throughout the year but one of the most important experiences is our Japanese connection through homestays and of course, our trips to Japan. In the Spring, Mr. Abe and the Soshin All Girls High School Brass Band will be visiting us during Spring Break. We are currently looking for host families. Not only will families be compensated monetarily but the experience of having students in your home is absolutely wonderful and unforgettable. This is something most people do not get to experience!
Fundraising for Japan Tours
Although Sutherland Music does participate in fundraisers that benefit the entire music program, students and parents who are interested in fundraising specifically towards the next tour to Japan should contact Ms. Workman by email. It would be fabulous to get a group of parents and students involved in looking for fundraising and/or sponsorship opportunities. The estimated cost of the next Japan tour is a minimum $3,800 (Our last tour in 2012 was $3,750.00.)
